Head of British military sees war clouds over Europe

“The new head of the British Army warned soldiers that they must prepare ‘to fight in Europe once again,'” AOL News reported on Sunday, June 19, 2022 (read story here).

Gen. Patrick Sanders, on his first day in office, seemed to foresee a wider war when he spoke of a need “to forge an army capable of fighting alongside our allies and defeating Russia in battle.”

Last week, a Russia expert warned that “the West must supply Ukraine with as much military support as it can, because if Russia succeeds in Ukraine they will expand their war” into Europe (read that story here); and Vladimir Solovyov, the Tucker Carlson of Russian TV, urged Putin to attack Germany (story here) after earlier this month warning “a nuclear war is coming that only mutants will survive (story here).

While threats and intimidation have long been part of Russia’s playbook, I don’t think a third world war is out of the question. Russian and Chinese leaders are tired of America’s global influence and both want to fundamentally alter the world order.

Both countries are increasingly militaristic, and it makes little logical sense for Putin to expend tens of thousands of Russian lives for minor territorial gains in Ukraine, whereas the costs of his war against Ukraine are easier to justify as part of a larger conquest.

Plus, Gen. Sanders has better intelligence than we do.
