A video of a Texas drag show triggered Florida’s book-burning Gov. Ron DeSantis. He announced during a press conference he’s “considering using child protective services to investigate parents who bring their children to see drag performances,” and proposed to “terminate the parental rights of an adult and hit them with a felony charge if they bring their children to watch drag shows,” according to Huffington Post (read story here).
He called exposing kids to drag shows “child endangerment,” and complained “there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age appropriate. DeSantis added that a video from the show in Dallas was ‘totally inappropriate’ and ‘not something children should be exposed to.’” Never mind Ukraine, China’s threats against Taiwan, Covid19, the economy, inflation, or gun violence. He’s running for president on a “hate gays” platform. Do you get the feeling he’s hunting for votes by pandering to bigots and stoking hate? I sure do.
