PHOTOGRAPHY: Gasherbrum IV

Cold, remote, Gasherbrum IV (center) is located in the greatest concentration of high peaks in the world — Pakistan’s Karakoram range — and is part of a 6-peak massif that includes two of the world’s 14 eight-thousand-meter peaks. It’s the world’s 17th highest mountain. This is a view of the 26,001-foot peak’s famous west face; the 1958 climbing route follows the left skyline.
