How to look like a bleating fool

“After protests erupted over the news that the high court is poised to gut the landmark abortion rights decision Roe v. Wade,” Huffington Post wrote, Clarence Thomas “chided Americans for being incapable of ‘living with’ rulings they don’t like and complained that a lack of faith in U.S. institutions ‘bodes ill for a free society.’ He added that the court would not be ‘bullied’ by the public.” Really? Carl Bernstein isn’t having it (see story here) and I’m not either.

Point No. 1: Justice Thomas’ unwillingness to live with a ruling he doesn’t like, Roe v. Wade, is his prerogative. Asking others to do what he won’t do is hypocritical.

Point No. 2: Few people in America display less faith in U.S. institutions than Ginni Thomas, his wife, who actively worked to overthrow the 2020 election. This is a discussion he should have with her before he lectures others.

Point No. 3: Right now, the “public” he’s referring to feels a lot more bullied by the court than the other way around, partly thanks to him.

Thomas was already one of the least-respected Supreme Court justices in recent history. This won’t help. If he wants people to take him seriously, he has to start by setting an example. He only looks like a bleating fool. How can somebody be this dense?
