“Data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Covid-19 levels have dropped significantly enough that more than 90 percent of people in the United States can go without masks,” NBC News reported on Thursday, March 3, 2022 (read story here).
“The updated data … shows … nearly everyone in the country lives in an area with low to medium risk” for Covid-19, NBC News said.
CDC is basing this on hospitalization rates and hospital capacity, not case counts, so if you don’t want to trust how they now measure infection risk, you may want to keep that mask on (except in Florida).
As of today, the U.S. version of Canada’s trucker insurrection is in Arkansas, still 4 days away from Washington D.C. (story here). With CDC no longer recommending masks, they’ll have to find some other tyrant to complain about. You can trust they will.
At his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Biden unveiled a 4-point plan for the transition from pandemic to endemic: (1) Preparing for new variants, (2) preventing shutdowns, (3) protecting against the disease, and (4) “vaccinating the world.” Only two of these have any chance of happening. You’re not going to get people who refused to protect themselves or get vaccinated to do so now.
If they wouldn’t when the Covid-19 virus was a deadly threat, why would they when it’s not (or isn’t perceived to be)?
There’s no shot in the arm, pill, or PPE to cure stupid.
