Windy weather in French Guiana has delayed the planned launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) until Christmas Day. (See story here.)
Originally scheduled for a 2007 launch, the JWST has experienced repeated delays, and its cost ballooned from $500 million to over $10 billiont.
Current status? It’s aboard its fully fueled rocket on the pad, waiting on the weather, and everything else likes like a “go.”
If it does make it off the pad on Saturday, it’ll be quite a Christmas present for scientifically curious people everywhere.
