Up to 2,500 Capitol rioters could be prosecuted

Sedition hunters say well over 2,000 people, not 800 as reported by the media, entered the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021, insurrection and potentially could face criminal charges.

About 625 have been arrested and charged so far, so there’s a ways to go. Nearly 10,000 entered restricted grounds, but FBI investigators are focusing on those who entered the building.

The Capitol mob included people who were already free on bail for other violent crimes. They’re still not in jail, either because they posted additional bail, or they haven’t been arrested yet for their participation in the riot.

One who pleaded guilty and will be sentenced this coming week thinks she’s too white to go to jail; prosecutors want the judge to give her 60 days.
