When Capitol rioters didn’t vote, what does that tell us?

“They were there to ‘Stop the Steal’ and to keep the President they revered in office, yet records show that some of the rioters who stormed the US Capitol did not vote in the very election they were protesting,” a CNN article published on Monday, February 1, 2021, says. Read it here.

CNN says “at least eight” of those facing criminal charges stemming from the assault on lawmakers counting electoral votes didn’t vote in the November election. This comes from an analysis of publicly available voter records in their home states.

For example, Donovan Crowl, 50, a member of an Ohio militia group with ties to the Oath Keepers, “charged toward a Capitol entrance in paramilitary garb on January 6 as the Pro-Trump crowd chanted ‘who’s our President?'” He’d told his mother “they were going to overtake the government if they…tried to take Trump’s presidency from him,” CNN says.
An academic expert who researches extremists offered CNN a variety of reasons why people who didn’t bother to vote went to the trouble of participating in a violent insurrection against the election results.
But to me, it’s simple. American citizens who dress up in paramilitary garb and attack government buildings are the same as paramilitaries in Central American banana republics and everywhere else: They don’t believe in democracy, ballot boxes are irrelevant to them, and their political currency is armed takeover.
In other countries, perpetrators of failed coups are often shot. These perps will only get some time in the world’s safest and most comfortable jails. They should be thankful that America is a democracy, and far more civilized than the brutal regimes elsewhere which they admire so much that they want to emulate them.
Photo: This may look like a street scene from Managua, Buenos Aires, or Myanmar, but it’s Donovan Crowl in Washington D.C. and he ain’t there for sightseeing or asking his congressman for help with his veteran’s benefits.

    Why didn’t they vote?

    a. They didn’t vote because they don’t
    believe in democracy?
    b. They were too busy dressing up dreaming and scheming of “their day” as dress up wannabe soldiers of a
    their own banana republic dreams?
    c. They are not concerned about voting rights and did not care if their votes would be counted or make a difference?
    d. They do not appreciate the privilege of voting?
    e. They don’t respect voting rights.
    f. They are too stupid to care?

They don’t respect your or my voting rights, that’s for sure. They disrespected the right of 81 million Americans to elect Biden. It was a crime against all of us.
