Bar manager who defied Covid-19 rules assaults deputy with car

A Staten Island bar manager who defied Covid-19 restrictions “struck a New York City sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle while attempting to evade arrest early Sunday morning,” CNN reported on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Deputies were conducting surveillance of a pub with a suspended liquor license and observed Daniel Presti, 34, “serving food and alcohol to unmasked patrons …. The deputies identified themselves and tried to take Presti into custody, but he drove his vehicle into one of the uniformed deputies.” He was stopped and arrested about 100 yards away, and later released without bail.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy suffered two fractured tibia bones, but Presti’s lawyer called that “an outright lie” and asserted the cop only had a minor ankle injury.

I’m curious why the cops didn’t blow this guy away after he hit the deputy with his car. That’s what usually happens to drivers who run over cops.
