David Prowse, 85, who played Darth Vader in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, died Saturday, November 28, 2020.
Prowse, 6 feet 7 inches, and a champion bodybuilder, was already an experienced actor when he got the role. However, he only did the physical acting, and didn’t get the speaking part because director George Lucas wanted a deeper voice, so he used James Earl Jones for the voice-overs.
Prowse also appeared in A Clockwork Orange, Casino Royale, and several Frankenstein films, among others.
