GOP official says “no” to generators for New Orleans black precincts

In Louisiana, as in other states, the Secretary of State is in charge of elections. That official is Kyle Ardoin (photo, left), a Republican and vocal Trump supporter.

Some precincts of New Orleans are still without power a week after Hurricane Zeta. Ardoin refused to provide generators for those polling places so the (mostly black) citizens there could vote. When the city’s mayor asked for the generators, Ardoin accused her of “trying to score cheap political points.”

It is a state responsibility to ensure its citizens can vote and local election officials have what they need. Story here.
