What Kirstie Alley doesn’t get about democracy

Basically, everything.

“Alley, a longtime Trump supporter, took to the platform on Saturday night to tell her followers that she will vote for the president again in 2020 because ‘he’s NOT a politician,’ Newsweek says. “I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason,” Alley tweeted. “He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it.” (Read story here.)

  • So if she needs surgery, she’ll hire a barber, because he’s NOT a surgeon, correct?
  • Alley has followers?

In a democracy, the goal isn’t getting things done quickly by running roughshod over anyone who disagrees with what you want to do, which is what Trump tries to do, but to govern with the consent of the governed by giving everyone a seat at the table and taking the time necessary to thrash out compromises everyone can live with. That requires skills, and a temperament, Trump doesn’t have.

This post isn’t about Alley’s support for Trump. This is America; she’s entitled to vote for anyone she likes. It’s about her ignorance of how democracy is supposed to work. Honestly, it’s not surprising that Alley, a longtime Scientology acolyte — a cult with a totalitarian governance structure — gravitates to a politician with authoritarian impulses and no concept of shared governance. She and Trump have a lot in common in that respect.

Think whatever you like about Alley as an actress. No comment here about that. She undoubtedly knows a great deal more about acting than you or I do. But she doesn’t know squat about democracy. She must’ve got her civics training from David Miscavige. She’s not someone I would take advice from about how to govern a country.

Co-dependent self-admitted former cocaine addict and Scientologist votes for the cult-like father figure she craves, admires and cannot obtain. A psychologist could have long term therapy appointments with this one.

“Three percent of the population is undiagnosed as sociopathic”.

This explains and defines the sociopathic followers of trump.

Lies, fact checking for truth, climate change denial. There is no evidence, including the increase of Covid-19 cases, and the subsequent mishandling of this national emergency, that can persuade these stubborn obstinate, cult following daddy issues worshipping thick people that trump is wrong, destructive and should not be president of any country that tries to support the ideals of democracy.
