Faced with a decline in Puget Sound Chinook Salmon, “Seattle’s” Orca Are Now Being Seen In California! i
The indigenous Orca of Puget Sound were spotted off of Monterey Bay. The Puget Sound Orca eat only the finest salmon, the Chinook or King. Those salmon have been disappearing from the Sound, apparently because we have dammed the rivers they need to spawn. This is the first time since 2011 that the southern resident killer whales, the J, K and L pods, have gone south .. presumably to find Chinook.
The L pod of 30 Oraca spotted last Sunday included a a three-month-old calf. e in her 90s,
