Where would you have stood?

The redhats have fellow travellers. Perhaps these are good people but they excuse Trump by saying he is just like every other politician.  After all, look at how we have survived other Presidents.  They think I am too upset by Trump and the redhat brigade.

MAYBE. Where would you have stood?

Andrew Jackson overthrew the Founders’ state .. which ended up giving us the Trail of Tears, a depression and the Civil War. Where would you have stood?

Ulysses Grant undertook the successful genocide of indigenous Americans. Where would you have stood?

Andrew Johnson tried to block reconstruction.  His efforts, despite a failed effort at impeachment, gave us Jim Crow and a century of lynchings.  Where would you have stood?

Harding supported a reckless celebration of the stock market. That gave us the Great depression. Where would you have stood?

McCarthy undermined the US government with conspiracy theories and calling everyone a Commie. That gave us the wasted efforts in Korea and Vietnam. Where would you have stood?

Nixon tried to become a dictator. Brave people stood up to him. Where would you have stood?

Someday, someone may look back and ask the question about Trump.

Where would you have stood?

In Oz. If you are going to play fast and loose with history then I am going to stand in Frank Baum’s creation of myth and folklore of the American opposing the corrupted Europen version. You Ozma is very much a dish and transgendered.

His point is that bad presidents can have terrible consequences, and Trump is a bad president; so the question is, will you stand up to him or go along with him?
