Having a President who did not claim to base her or his decisions on Christian bible would be a great thrill for me.
For the record, I am a supporter of Bernie. I am excited by his efforts to recreate the Democratic Party as a local movement. Without that kind of revolution, the Dems have no weapons to compete with the Tea Party.
However, on a more personal level, as Jew, I am excited to listen to Bernie’s pride in our traditions, the concepts of teshuvah and tikkun olam that have made me so proud.
For those of you who are not Jewish, I recommend read my family Haggadah ,, the book we read each Passover where we celebrate not just Moses’ fight in Egypt but all the great history of civil rights. I would hope non Jews would understand how much my father’s fight against the Nazis and the fight of the Mississippi three, three Jews, to overturn segregation have meant to my life.
