Republicans running the Benghazi witch hunt insist it’s not a brazen attempt to discredit Hillary Clinton, as their own Majority Leader openly admitted, and point out they’ve questioned dozens of witnesses to get at the “truth” of what happened. One of those witnesses was Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal (photo, left). The Republicans have denied numerous requests to release a full transcript of Blumenthal’s closed-door testimony to the committee. Here’s why:
- They asked Blumethal 270 questions about his alleged business activities in Libya.
- They asked Blumenthal 160 questions about his relationship with the Clintons.
- They asked Blumenthal at least 50 questions about the Clinton Foundation.
- They asked Blumenthal 45 questions about David Brock / Media Matters.
- They asked Blumenthal less than 20 questions about the Benghazi attack, only 4 questions about security in Benghazi, and none about Ambassador Stevens or other U.S. personnel in Benghazi.
