Of Facebook and Apartheid in Seattle

As Seattle is now the USA’s most whte city and my District 3 is becomes whiter than Johannesburg under Apartheid, I was impressed by David Toledo’s comments.  Not so sure the Toledo test is reliable.

“During a recent Candidate Endorsement Interview I pointed out that bringing diversity to Seattle’s leadership isn’t just about the shade of a person’s skin; but how they engage and interact, and the relationship they have with people of all colors. I then challenged the panel to open up all of the Canidate Facebook pages. It’s not diverse when the majority of your friends look just like you do… UPDATE: Several of the Candidates have blocked viewing of their FB friends. ‪#‎IsThisLeadership‬?”

I love it! Thank you David Toledo for putting the candidates and current city leaders on blast! Are they walking the talk??? Is easy to say we support diversity, but if politicians don’t live it in their own life than why would we expect that they’d bring it to public office? Thank you David Toledo for having the guts to put this out there (as I’m sure it burned a lot of political bridges).
