Declared GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is the country’s most prominent “birther.” Even after President Obama released his so-called “long form” birth certificate, Trump accused him of not being a citizen. “We know very little about our president,” he claimed. This, of course, is nonsense; it has been definitively proved that Obama was born in Hawaii to an American mother and Kenyan father, which makes him a “natural born” citizen of the United States.
Just for fun, the Guardian asked Trump for his birth certificate and passport back in 2012, when Obama was running for reelection. Trump responded by telling the newspaper to take a hike. A Trump spokesman accused the paper of “being funny” and said, “What’s your point? Mr. Trump’s not the president of the United States and he’s not running for the presidency.”
That was then. This is now. Now that he is running for president, Trump should cough up his birth certificate and passport to reassure us that he isn’t a member of an alien invasion force. Because he sure talks like he came from outer space.
