Let me make one thing clear: As a transplant from the Yankee North to South Carolina, I completely agree that the Confederate Flag should not be displayed on the State House grounds as it is too divisive a symbol.
I am pretty sure you do have EVERY idea of why your name is there. You have defended, as you still do in this comment, the racism of your adopted city. That racism extends not only to the celebration of the Confederacy but to the effort to preserved monument of the Nazis .
That defense has been rather aggressive, Including an effort to get this website taken down by my empoyer, the University of Washington. Your attack on THE-Ave.US included assertions of bigotry, pedophilia, etc. At the same time, you published on your own website, a screed demeaning my Dad’s memory as a WWII hero and have been trying to have his amazing pictures of Buchenwald destroyed.
As for the citadel, holding that relic up as a symbol of South Carolina’s past is one more example of the horror my brothers and sisters, African Americans, must endure in the place you have chosen as a home.

However, in another location, at the Summerall Chapel http://www.citadel.edu/root/chapel-history at the Citadel, where the Confederate Naval Jack hangs, it is a memorial to the graduates of the Citadel who served in the Civil War, and is merely one of numerous flags http://www.citadel.edu/root/images/OEA/newsrelease_photos/2013-14/chapel%20flag%20collection%20wide.jpg that are on display as memorials to Citadel alumni who served and sacrificed.
