Two NYPD plainclothes cops nearly started a riot by jumping out of their unmarked patrol car and grabbing a 14-year-old Harlem girl. They eventually fled from an angry mob that gathered at the scene. The Daily Guardian explains what triggered the incident:
“Two undercover NYPD officers attempting to arrest a 14-year-old girl because they thought a child who was with her had pushed the button on a police call box got more than they bargained for. The arrest attempt, which went down around 7 pm on Thursday night in the uptown neighborhood of Washington Heights, was thwarted by other members of the community. Witnesses reported the incident began after the seven-year-old child allegedly hit the button.”
Arresting a 14-year-old girl because the kid with her pushed a police call box button? Really??? Another example of why the public is losing all respect for the police.
