Feds indict Alabama cop who left elderly visitor from India paralyzed

sureshbhai-patel-2015-02-12t210741zeric-parkerA U.S. Attorney has filed criminal charges against an Alabama cop who inflicted severe injuries on an elderly foreign visitor by slamming him to the ground during a Feb. 6 stop-and-question. The man was merely out walking in his son’s neighborhood, but his dark skin color prompted a suspicious neighbor to call police, and when he didn’t understand police commands or why he was being stopped because he doesn’t speak English, Officer Eric Parker violently slammed him, putting him in the hospital and leaving him partially paralyzed. Parker was fired because of the incident and also faces state assault charges. Alabama’s governor apologized to India’s government. A civil lawsuit against Parker and his department is pending.
