Comcast has decided to turn every cable router on its network into a public wi-fi access point.

While trying to buy out all of its competitors, Comcast is also trying to make its network available everywhere .. at the expense of its own customers! The idea is that Comcast will provide free internet for all Comcast subscribers everywhere by making its customers share their routers with the public. As DSLReports , Comcast users have found that even after disabling the sharing, updates to the firmware re-enable it automatically.
The only solution, according to forum members, is not to use the Comcast modem. Buy your own modem/router. Then all you need to do is convince Comcast to remove router rental fees.
