In El Salvador, a young woman who suffered a miscarriage is serving a 30-year prison sentence under a strict anti-abortion law. In the United States, Republicans are trying to enact similar “fetal homicide” laws in many states.
If they’re going that far, they may as well go all the way, and authorize “honor killings” of women who decline arranged marriages and stonings of rape victims, too. Why merely turn America into a Third World country when you can drag our society all the way back to the stone age?
