North Carolina’s Unfriendly Laws

Thousands of North Carolina families whose health was damaged by contaminated drinking water can’t sue the polluters because of a state law.  The U.S. Supreme Court decided today the state law trumps federal environmental laws.  Thus, North Carolina state legislators are to blame for protecting the polluters and leaving the victims without a legal remedy.  I’m thinking, though, that because many of the victims were Marines and their dependents who were sickened by drinking water at Camp Lejeune, these veterans should be able to qualify for V.A. disability benefits as their injuries from the polluted water clearly are service-connected.  But the main point I want to make here is, why would anyone live in any state that treats its citizens like this?  I wouldn’t.  Roger Rabbit icon http://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-rules-against-homeowners-in-toxic-water-case/
