More Family Feud. UPDATES

I am only posting this to give readers a taste of the sort of email I get most days from my brother Hugh Schwartz and his amanuensis William Quick.  In the last two days alone, I have received 31 emails from them!   That is more than one an hour!

In the meantime, we are 16 days from the 70th anniversary of my Dad’s entering Buchenwald and there is no progress on getting the Buchenwald pictures released to public view while

He  writes:

Did you go to Harvard Medical School as you have claimed? Do you blame your viciousness on dad? Poor carpenters frequently blame their tools.

My reply:

Claiming that I have falsified my curriculum vita would be a serious charge.  Please substantiate.

I have never claimed to be vicious, much less blame it on our father.

Hugh’s reply

You obviously have no interest in a good faith agreement. You are holding our joint property for ransom. I see no reason to speak to you further about this or anything else.
As for your misrepresentation of going to Harvard Med School, it is about time you owned up to it. You know full well that this was not UWs mistake. It was yours. The fact you incriminated yourself by publishing my e-mail to you on your website is your dumb decision not mine. I have had this documented evidence for over a year now and mentuoned it to yiu severak times. I chose not to use it because you are still my brother. How stupid to publish it yourself then blame UW. Just shows how clouded your judgement is.

    Let me answer:

    (1) SMS’s official on-line biography falsely claims his MD degree is from Harvard Medical School. “Harvard Medical School, Boston University work, Boston, MA, M.D., 1967”

    (2) SMS is correct that he never claimed to be vicious, but he definitely has been, repeatedly. For example: “The cradle of the confederacy, remains almost incredibly foreign to any place I have lived. Teen births, gun abuse, anti union laws, racism, … I have relatives who chose to live there but I doubt I would ever want to visit their home” If that isn’t vicious, nothing is.

    (3) Releasing the Buchenwald pictures is entirely up to SMS: he is holding some of the WWII materials hostage in Seattle, refusing to return them per his previous signoff on a family agreement; and he is dawdling on signing the Deed of Gift to donate the materials.

Where is this “official on line biography?”

On the Internet, of course. And to paraphrase your comment, falsifying your curriculum vita is a serious matter.

I found it! Do you mean the post by my Dept? They made an error. I suggest you notify them. (I will too)

The facts are in my NIH CV. FWIW, I attended BUSM from 63 to 67, got my MD from there. Because my research interest in blood vessels could not be accomplished at BU, I spent about a year with Guido Majno and Morris Karnovsky at Harvard. During that time, with Guido, I was able to prove that basement membranes, the layer endothelial cells adhere to, are comprised of form of collagen. I also began the work, with help from Morris that led to several later papers of the structure of arterial endothelium and mechanisms of transendothelial transport.

I previously notified UW, and they didn’t change it. The e-mail, on Feb 14, said “At his UW biography at
, it is claimed that he went to Harvard Medical School. He actually graduated from Boston University medical school: quoting him from an e-mail reply to his brother October 30, 2013: “I did not attend Harvard Medical School, Why is that of any relevance?””

It was addressed to (amongst others) the Provost and the Dean of the Medical School. So either they believed that you went to Harvard, or they don’t care about false CVs at the UW website.

The UW emailed me and will fix the text. Too bad Bill and High didn’t just bring this to my attention before.

As to the “ransom” Hugh refers to, he is referring to the snapshots and photos that were (with his agreement) sent to us after the distribution of tangible property.

My wife and I paid for the packing and the shipping. When we were unable to get any advice on what he and my sister wanted done we spent a large amount of money and time organizing and digitizing these. We offered to send the originals to then keeping only a few (mostly pictures of our kids). Even those we offered to send digital copies so my sibs could choose what they wanted.

Because shipment is expensive, we have sent him the estimate from FEDEX.

I wish there were a pill to create calmness.
