William Quick, English Student, Explains How Democracy Should Support The HUmanities!

Where are OUR students?

Mr. Quick, a student in the still proud British system of higher education,  eloquently defends the need for the British Government to fund humanities educations.

What struck me is that William was defending something against cuts that would not come close to approaching the threats we have here where “public” education is now out of the reach of many Americans and the legislators supply do not understand why anyone might want to study history or art.

I wonder what Willian would say about recent threats to ban evolution in South Carolina?

I’m all for humanities education, but I question how much good it did in the Brits’ case, when you look at how they treated people they wanted to colonize.

Would you blame that on Shakespeare or the King James bible?
