I ran across this today on a German blog about Hogan’s heros.:
Er veröffentlichte kurz darauf seine Autobiografie From the Holocaust to Hogan’s Heroes.
Clary was a child when he was in the camp. He was probably one of the children Rabbi Schachter helped since Robert writes of getting out of the camp shortly after the Americans officially arrived. I have written to him to find out if he encountered Schachter.
Again, the sadness … our family issues prevent Monsieur Clary from seeing the pictures that are now locked up and decaying . Of course this may not matter as there are so many Buchenwald pictures that were taken later by the people authorized to use their cameras. Perhaps it is selfish, but it would mean a lot to me to know that my dad played some role in the history of Hogan’s heroes!
