Hello Steve,
Almost to the lee of Portugal, the trip across on the rum-line paid off, the
weather has been warm and the sea has been calm enough, just a deep swell
from the storm to the north of the Azores, this ship is in no way stiff, so
just slow and gentle 15-20 degree rolls. We should be passing Gibraltar
sometime early in the morning, so that by the time I wake up, I should be in
the Mediterranean, and in Egypt by next week, that should put us in through
the ditch and into the Red Sea by the end of the month.
Life here has been routine, now crisis’s to speak of, the cadet is coming
along nicely, last time we were in this area going in this direction he was
a right-wing-republican-
question all that, his childish faith in a supreme being is falling by the
wayside, he’s not quite ready to give it up all together, but he no longer
assumes the bible is literal truth, oh and perhaps the biggest change is
that he now firmly believes that socialized medicine is a must!
Also he is well on his way to becoming a fine ships engineer, he’s hard
working, not afraid to get his hands dirty and eager to learn.
Oh and he’s reading books by B.Traven.
Everything else on here seems OK, the Electrician has been chasing ground
faults, and the reefer has been fixing reefer cords, I built a containment
for some oil drums and have been doing maintenance on the deck gear, The
second has been doing the maintenance on the steering gear and the 3rd on
the sewage plant, the C/E and the 1st have been doing inventory.
