WGU: Advertizing on the web.

One CLICK ME

One of the red flags that heighten my concerns about WGU is their extensive use of web advertising.
Yesterday morning I was researching a Huff Post piece on a Vatican Effort to reach out to aetheists. To my surprise, one such link brought me to a website called “The Damned.” I assume that this was just Google playing with my various interests, but if you click on the icon you see here, it will take you where the link ultimately did go .. back to a WGU add.

So I decided to follow through and call WGU. askinh the same questions I had asked at Phoenix a few days ago.  The scenario:

I am calling for an unemployed friend, Larry.  Larry is  a high school graduate who never went to college.  He has, however, read a lot , especially in politics and history.  He has held jobs as a secretary but now can not find a job.  His self education includes proficiency in Office and Photoshop and ability to write webpages.  Larry has about $20,000 he recently inherited and is interested in getting a degree that would let him become a high school history teacher.

So, this is what happened when I called:

I was given a choice between four colleges .. teaching, business, health science, computers.

I chose teachers.

More to come later.
