Imagine you’re one of 70,000 students who made a pledge to work hard, get good grades and go to college-only to find out the finances promised to you went away.

  • Imagine you’re a parent who worked hard to give your child the opportunity to go to college, only to find there’s no room for them at state schools.
  • Imagine you’re an employer who needs to hire college-educated people, only to find you need to recruit people from other states.
  • This is the reality of Washington state’s increasing budget cuts to higher education.

The effects on students, on families, on access to quality higher education and on our state’s promise to the next generation to provide themthe education and training they need to succeed in life are threatened. If current budget proposals are enacted, funding cuts to our state schools could reach 50%, meaning fewer Washington kids will get into Washington schools, and
more and more families won’t be able to afford college.
