Where can I eat on THE Ave?

Hillel at the PI’s tasting menu has a pretty snarky comment about cheap food in Portland vs. Seattle.

He says, “Portland, Oregon is filled with multiple clusters of street food vendors organized in little parks of vans, trucks, trailers, and shacks. Some of the street food is ok, but a non-trivial percentage of it is fantastic. It’s simple, it’s often cheap, it’s focused, and it adds a dimension of choice in eating across Portland that makes it somewhere you want to be. ”

How come there is not more of this in the U District?

In the meantime, there is GREAT NEWS! The Mediterranean Kitchen is back in Seattle! This is likley the best Greek/Lebanese, Arab food ever.  The Farmer’s Chicken Wings are amazing.

Mediterranean Kitchen

  • National Flag of Lebanon
The restaurant on Queen Anne closed a few years ago and  the founder’s son,  the junior Hosn ,opened a branch in Bellevue over on the wrong side of Lake Washington.. The specialty of the house is the Farmer’s Dish. This recipe belonged to Hosn’s great grandfather. Marinating chicken wings in spices overnight is the secret. It is served over rice with a special garlic sauce. Lots of garlic is in almost everything at Mediterranean Kitchen so bring your mints.
