Israel: Academics Vote Shares to Limit Exec Pay! Is TIAA Listening?

…..The representatives of Hamachar (“the provident fund of the union of academics in the social sciences and humanities” ) is voting against high salaries at shareholders assemblies. Specifically, Hamachar’s representatives are refusing to approve any executive salary that is more than 25 times the lowest salary at the company.

Hamachar: For struggling workers to support such pay is repulsive

    I wonder, does anyone know how TIAA is governed?

    Given its unique role in academics, doe TIAA itself follow investment rules that would we would like?

    As one example, it seems to me that academics should stand against the current salary policies where corporations are run by executives whose pay may have nothing to do with the company’s performance.
