MSNBC Censors Melissa Harris-Perry

The US news media is like no other in the world. Whereas other news media consider themselves separate from the business arm of the news, in the US, the news department is interwoven with the entertainment department, as a result, its success is determined by ratings. News should not be rated. At best, the advertising department should take take their slot and leave what’s left for the news to fill. It’s called to the news hole. All the weekly shows with progressive and black hosts have been removed and this includes Ed and others. There is no doubt that MSNBC ratings have improved tremendously but it had to silence a lot of unpopular voices to achieve that. Dig your heels, Melissa Harris-Perry. They’ve already done the worse they can.

She said that her show had effectively been taken away from her and that she felt “worthless” in the eyes of NBC News executives.

I will go further than Chi.

MSNBC, the liberal outlet, suffers from white condescension. Rather than having a top thinker like Professor Harris (or any of a dozen or more top Black journalists) in prime time, they chose Al Sharpton.

Why? Sharpton’s show was a disaster. Whatever his other talents, Sharpton is a terribly untalented talking head. He read the teleprompter as if it were a Dick and Jane book.

Of course when Sharpton tanked, MSNBC overlooked Melissa and replaced her with with a talented group of reporters ..from Bloomberg news. They may have a Black employee but …
    Perry is not among these.

The media choose Black faces less for talent then for notoriety.
