Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has a reputation for being prickly. Her entire staff quit, and so did both of her ex-husbands. Now, it appears from witness statements she’s a fake victim of a fake crime.
After Mace spoke to a group of children’s advocates at the Rayburn Building in Washington D.C., a youth activist named James McIntyre (photo, left), 33, from Illinois, approached her and, according to witnesses, shook hands with her and asked her to protect the rights of trans people (read story here).
One of the witnesses, Elliott Hinkle, described as “a former foster youth and advocate for LGBTQ rights,” said “McIntyre shook her hand, and made a comment about how many transgender youth are in foster care, adding: ‘They need your support.’”
But Mace, a notorious transphobe, alleged she was “physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man” and suffered a wrist injury. (Mace later posed with her arm in a sling, with a matching pained facial expression, see photo at right.)
Police later arrested McIntyre and charged him with misdemeanor assault (see story here; more details here). If this reeks of anti-LGBQT hate to you, it does to me, too.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out in court. My guess is the criminal charge against McIntyre will be quietly dropped, and he won’t bother to pursue a civil lawsuit against Mace for false arrest.
And if she’s lying, well, Jussie Smollett went to jail for allegedly false reporting and staging a fake crime.
