The photo below isn’t of a military unit; these dudes aren’t soldiers at all, they’re Jan. 6 rioters.
In fact, Edward Richmond Jr. of Geismar, Louisiana (in middle of photo), was court-martialed and dishonorably discharged for murdering a handcuffed Iraqi civilian prisoner.
Richmond, now 41, was part of the mob trying to push past cops guarding a tunnel entrance to the Capitol. He “attacked officers with a retractable metal baton, hitting their shields,” and “passed along a wooden board for rioters to use against police as a makeshift weapon.”
Having served time in a military prison, he’ll now get to familiarize with civilian prisons. The judge sentenced him to four years and three months.
Should he be required to serve it? Or does he deserve a pardon? His lawyer isn’t counting on one (read story here), but who knows what might emanate from the twisted mind that incited this riot to begin with.
