Western Washington is under a winter storm alert this weekend, November 17-18, 2024, with rain and gusty winds expected in the Puget Sound lowlands and heavy snow in the mountains potentially closing the major highway passes (see story here).
This weather forecast and storm warning came from the National Weather Service (NWS), a federal agency (details here).
Trump has hired (at no pay) that very unstable genius, Elon Musk, to cut $2 trillion from federal spending. Musk not only thinks he can do it, but says it’s easy.
He can get $900 billion by closing all federal agencies and laying off every federal employee. The rest will have to come from Grandpa and Grandma’s Social Security (think church soup kitchens for old folks).
So let’s say the NWS goes tits-up on the cutting table, like a good scene from a bad movie. What’s left? Who will do the weather reports?
Well, there’s an answer for that, too. Remember how storm tracks were predicted in Trump’s first administration? (Not shown: the felt marker he used to draw the line inside the red circle.) We should expect more of the same.
