Human avian flu has been detected in 8 states as of November 15, 2024, including Washington last month and Oregon this week (see stories here and here).
The CDC says (here), “Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5) viruses have been detected in U.S. wild aquatic birds, commercial poultry and backyard or hobbyist flocks beginning in January 2022.”
The CDC webpage linked above promises daily updates, but the webpage and CDC itself may disappear shortly after January 20, 2025, in which case you may not know whether avian flu is approaching your neighborhood until you catch it.
