UFO metal is man-made

A metal fragment purportedly from the 1947 Roswell “flying saucer” is man-made, according to a lab report.

The report concludes that “despite claims it was an alloy not found on this planet,” the piece of debris “was not extraterrestrial in origin” (read story here).

Due to its sketchy provenance, the piece can’t be traced to a specific project, but may have been part of a balloon array used at the time to monitor Soviet nuclear tests. The alloy is consistent with defense material testing of the time, and the lab called its composition “unremarkable.”

The universe has billions of galaxies, and each galaxy has a huge number of stars, so it’s mathematically likely that life has evolved outside our solar system. But intelligent alien civilizations, if they have existed, could be separated from us by millions of years in time, and distances so vast they’re unbridgeable. It’s also possible we’re alone in all the universe, that no life with our technological capabilities has evolved anywhere else.

The balloon explanation makes sense. Aliens visiting Earth doesn’t.
