Fox News is a huge network. Its hosts are paid millions of dollars. For what? Not talking intelligently, as this clip from “Fox Business” shows.
In it host Maria Bartiromo, once a credible business reporter but now a silly Fox talking head, carries on a deadpan discussion with Rep. Eric Burleson (R-MO) about Joe Biden’s handlers prepping him for the debate by “jacking him up” on Mountain Dew.
I don’t think they’re joking, because while they impress me as the kind of people who laugh at their own jokes, I don’t see either of them laughing.
I couldn’t find a clean video, i.e. one unencumbered with commentary, so I used the one below from the “David Pakman Show” because it’s short. A longer video clip from “The Majority Report With Sam Seder” has the same segment here with more commentary ridicule.
Seder says, and I’m sure he’s kidding, “If Mountain Dew cures dementia, I want a piece of the action!” It doesn’t, but if anyone’s interested, Mountain Dew is a PepsiCo brand, and you can get in on it by buying Pepsi’s stock.
Why is a giant network wasting air time talking about drugging the President of the United States with citrus-flavored soda pop to hide his alleged “dementia” from voters?
I’ll be charitable and argue Fox assumes its viewers find this amusing. A less charitable inference is that Bartiromo believes her viewers are stupid, and she and Burleson are dumbing down to their level. In which case, if democracy depends on an informed public, we’re in trouble.
