Does Meghan Markle have big feet?

That question is raised by an article in the U.K.-based gossip mag Daily Mail (here) observing that the actress-turned-princess “often wears clothes that … drag along the floor as she walks.”

That’s not surprising, because Markle is possibly the most observed person on the planet, or at least in the world of tabloids and paparazzi.

My clothes drag, too, and I’m at risk of tripping on them, but that’s because I’m getting shorter with age as my verterbrae settle like the sinking foundation of an old house. My Social Security income doesn’t cover a new wardrobe.

Daily Mail wonders if Markle is hiding her feet, but she offered a less conspiratorial explanation: “Long dresses and trousers, depending on body type, can help to elongate the body and shape.”

As wardrobe advice, that doesn’t work for those of us who are more wide than long; we need Ozempic, not bespoke fashion (the cost is about the same).

I’m not saying Meghan has big feet (I don’t want to get sued), nor is anything wrong with oversize shoes. They looked great on Emmett Kelly, and who wouldn’t want to be beloved like that great circus clown? But there’s no reason to believe Meghan’s feet are anything but royal.

And, truth be told, most people who aren’t circus clowns or Irish dancers don’t want their admiring audiences looking at their feet; they prefer to flaunt other assets. Princess Markle’s finest asset is above the shoulders; nobody practices radiant smiles as much as she does, or does them better. She’s the 21st-century Jackie Kennedy of charm.
