“Fox News on Wednesday acknowledged that an onscreen banner calling President Joe Biden a ‘wannabe dictator’ was inappropriate and said it had taken steps to address the situation internally,” CNN said on June 14, 2023 (read story here).
“The chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed,” a Fox News spokesperson said, but declined “to elaborate on how the issue was being addressed.”
You know what this means: Some smartass employee is getting taken out to the woodshed. And it seems even Fox isn’t on board with the “Biden is a dictator” meme. Or at least that’s what they want you to believe.
Update (6/16/23): Fox has fired the rogue employee, identified as Alexander McCaskill, who was Tucker Carlson’s producer before Carlson was fired and also “features prominently in a toxic work environment lawsuit by a former colleague,” according to Daily Beast (read story here). Looks like Fox is doing some brush-clearing in the wake of its $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting systems.
