“Republicans … trashed President Joe Biden’s trip to Ukraine, claiming the visit to support Kyiv is an ‘insult’ to Americans,” New York Daily News reported on Monday, February 20, 2023 (read story here).
The newspaper continued, “right-wing lawmakers said Biden was wasting American taxpayers’ money defending Ukraine against the Russian invasion.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who wants to be president, accused Biden of “neglecting” American problems to show support for Ukraine.
GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have co-sponsored the “Ukraine Fatigue Act, which aims to undermine support for Kyiv as the Russian invasion of its European neighbor moves into its second year,” the newspaper said.
Meanwhile, MAGA Messiah Trump “hailed Putin as a ‘genius’ when he launched the invasion.” Trump, still a major figure in the Republican Party, leads other GOP contenders among Republican voters in the 2024 nomination lottery.
Is it unfair to label the GOP the “Putin Lovers Party,” when not all Republican politicians are on board with this? I’ll let you decide, but I don’t hear them criticizing their fellow Republicans for cozying up to a vicious dictator who is bombing schools, hospitals, and apartment buildings.
