When you should take a plea deal

Richard Barnett, 63, a self-employed contractor from Gravette, Arkansas, is the man kicking back behind Nancy Pelosi’s desk on January 6, 2021, in the infamous photograph below.

He was arrested two days later, and spent three months in the D.C. jail, giving jailers a hard time and complaining about jail conditions, while selling autographed photos of himself to admirers.

Prosecutors offered him a plea deal, which he turned down (see story here). Now, his trial is beginning, and his lawyers argue he merely “wandered into Pelosi’s office suite looking for a bathroom.” (See story here.)

I think they should ask if that plea deal is still available.
