“Trump, apparently still hurt by embarrassing revelations about his presidency made in a new book from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, accused the entire publishing industry of conspiring against him,” Raw Story reported on Friday, September 30, 2022.
“Writing on his Truth Social platform, [he] claimed that major publishing houses have systematically rejected multiple former administration officials who purportedly wanted to write books about how wonderful it was to work for him,” Raw Story said (read story here).
Well, one thing about working for Trump was that, contrary to his TV persona, he didn’t like firing people. So like other gutless bosses, instead of doing it to your face, he’d send you a tweet. (See that story here.) But I digress.
Publishing is a business. To make money, they have to sell books.
As Raw Story points out, while books have been released that “painted his administration in a more positive light,” such as those by Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer, they didn’t sell well “while tell-all books that depicted Trump’s White House as a stream of nonstop chaos instantly rocketed up the bestseller list.”
Don’t take it personal, ya mug, it’s just business.
