Can’t blame him. The rest of his tribe was exterminated by illegal farmers, possibly by feeding them rat poison.
Professional well-wishers left tools and seeds for his use. “We always know more or less where he is in the reserve. We monitor him at a distance,” they said (see story here).
The “Man of the Hole,” so-called because he sheltered and hid in pits dug in the ground (photo), finally died. He was about 60 years old. (See story here.)
With his passing, his tribe is extinct, and all that remains is the holes.
