When Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI, photo at left) wants to be interviewed, he wisely chooses a hack like Maria Bartiromo for the job, because she’ll ask him the questions he wants to be asked and agree with what he says. That beats a journalist interview by a country mile.
Johnson needs all the help he can get, because he’s terminally stupid (he’s the senator who called Capitol rioters “tourists”) and is trailing in his re-election bid (to a black guy, which makes it even worse).
So, Johnson went on Bartiromo’s Fox News show on Sunday, August 28, 2022, which nobody watches except people who plan to vote for him anyway. (Read story here.)
After Bartiromo ranted about the “honesty” of elections and “Russia collusion hoax,” and finally got around to asking Johnson something, she said, “Tell me about your opponent and why you believe you are being smeared and this is the result: 50% for Barnes, 46% for Johnson.”
“Basically saying that I’m a tool of Russia, which I am not,” he replied. “It’s a completely false accusation. The Wisconsin press picks that up and people … think I’m a tool of Vladimir Putin.” (A Milwaukee newspaper reported over a year ago the FBI warned him Russia could by trying to use him to spread disinformation; see story here.)
In all fairness, he’s too stupid to be a Putin tool; even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t know how.
Johnson also opined that Democrats “might impact the 2022 election here in Wisconsin.” They’re certainly trying by running a candidate against him, raising campaign funds, organizing volunteers, and trying to turn out their voters. “Because, let’s face it, Maria, they do not want me reelected.” I’ll give him that, too; it’s incontestable that Democrats don’t want him re-elected.
And I’ll bet if he loses, the senator who called rioters “tourists” will blame it on the Democrats. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they take the credit.
