The FBI arrested a Texas man for making “credible threats” on social media “to carry out a mass attack” against a conservative gathering in Florida in July, ABC News reported on Sunday, August 21, 2022 (read story here).
Alejandro Richard Velasquez Gomez, 19, of San Antonio, allegedly planned an attack on a Turning Point USA convention held in Tampa from July 22 to 24, 2022.
He posted on Instagram about getting “revenge against all of humanity … for my suffering,” and even bought a plane ticket to Florida, but didn’t make the trip and has been in police custody since July 22.
Turning Point USA is a Trump-supporting group that recruits high school and college students to promote conservative politics (read details here).
I know what you’re thinking: Gomez is a deranged lefty who planned political violence against conservatives. That’s what I thought at first, too. Nope, he’s a follower (see story here) of Nick Fuentes (profile here), a “paleoconservative” (defined here) whose views are just barely this side of Nazism. In other words, Gomez is even farther right than Turning Point USA’s far-right conservatives. This is a case of rightwingers being attacked by a farther-rightwinger.
I know what you’re thinking: That’s why I’m posting this story, and wouldn’t if Gomez was a deranged lefty. Well, that’s wrong. I’ve been wanting to post a story about liberal-against-conservative violence for quite some time to show I’m against all political violence, but I can’t find one; all the liberals are pacifists.
But Gomez may not have had a political motive. It appears what he’s really upset about is not getting laid (see story here). By inference, even rightwing gals like those in the photo below won’t oblige him. Perhaps if he spends some time in prison, he’ll get laid there.
