Animals, including humans, can biologically adapt to climate change, but it takes millenia. We don’t have that much time.
Climate change will bring “extremely dangerous” heat and humidity to the U.S. in the next 30 years, according to a climate research group, CNN reported on Monday, August 15, 2022 (see story here).
Those worst off will be those living in the “heat belt” depicted on the map below.
You don’t hear much climate denial talk from Republicans anymore, simply because climate change is here and its effects are impossible to ignore, but they’re still refusing to do anything about it. In August 2022, as part of a bill called the Inflation Reduction Act (details here), Congress passed the most sweeping climate change legislation in U.S. history without a single Republican vote. Do they want us all to burn up?
On climate, as with everything else, Republicans reek of hypocrisy. For example, in 2011 Texas GOP Gov. Rick Perry slashed the state’s firefighting budget by 70%, then begged then-President Obama for federal emergency funds when his state was on fire (see story here). What will they do when they have to survive in a “heat belt”?
