Ex-Louisville police detective Kelly Goodlett (photo, left) has agreed to plead guilty to falsifying the search warrant that led to Breonna Taylor’s death, and testify against three other police defendants in the federal civil rights prosecution of those responsible for the black woman’s death. All four cops are white.
Goodlett resigned; two of the others, including the shooter, were fired, and one is still employed as a police sergeant. Those other three could get life sentences if convicted of the federal charges. Goodlett faces up to five years. The shooter was acquitted in a state trial.
Goodlett’s guilty plea will be the first criminal conviction in the case.
