Ricky Walter Shiffer (photo, left), 42, died uselessly in an Ohio cornfield, shooting at police, following a highway chase after he attacked the Cincinnati FBI building on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Two days earlier Shiffer, enraged by the FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, had gone on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, to call for “civil war” and the killing of FBI agents.
His postings were laced with rightwing rhetoric about “tyranny.” He was previously kicked off Twitter and other social media.
He went to the FBI building with body armor, an AR-15 rifle, and nail gun; tried to breach security in the visitor screen area; and shot nails at employees. Then he fled in a car onto a nearby interstate highway, and eventually was cornered in a field just off the interstate, where Ohio state troopers tried to get him to surrender. They shot him dead when he pointed a rifle at them.
Shiffer described himself as a construction electrician. He had ties to the Proud Boys, and claimed he was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, although he hadn’t been arrested in connection with the riot.
Shortly after Shiffer became KIA in his one-man civil war, the Washington Post reported the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago to retrieve documents about nuclear weapons. So it appears he died “defending” Trump’s taking of nuclear secrets with him to a place where Chinese spies hang out.
Shiffer isn’t a hero or martyr for a noble cause; he’s a dead criminal who suffered a stupid, delusional, pointless death.
